Beverages with calories, carbohydrates and sodium can also cause water retention, which means extra pounds.

Water, however, has no calories, no carbs and virtually little to no sodium. It also helps you eliminate excess water weight and helps boost your metabolism. If you’re not too excited about drinking more water, just add freshly squeezed lemon juice. You can also drink carbonated water like Perrier or Pellegrino.

Eat mostly fruits and vegetables and banish sugar and white flour from your diet. 

Eliminating white flour foods like bread, white rice and pastas and eliminating foods with sugar is one of the best ways to lose weight fast. Instead of eating these types of foods, choose colorful fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Following a fruit and vegetable diet will help you lose extra pounds quickly.

For example, eat carrot and celery sticks with hummus instead of pasta. Eat grapes, bananas, apples and nuts in place of white rice and potatoes. Instead of eating a tuna sandwich, eat a tuna salad with sliced tomatoes. Most of your meals and snacks should consist of vegetables and fruits. Eating a lot of fresh produce will not only help you eat fewer calories, it will also help you flush out excess water weight.

Get more sleep every night.

Several research studies reveal that getting a half an hour to one hour more rest each night can help you lose more weight. Getting at least eight to nine hours of sleep each night will help you feel more alert during the day, boost your metabolism and leave you less likely to binge on fattening foods.

Do cardio and weight training exercises every day.

Regular exercising is one of the best ways to lose weight and keep it off.  Many exercise experts say that interval training will help you burn more calories, lose weight quicker and get fit faster. To interval train simply change the intensity during your workouts every three to four minutes. Exercise for at least thirty minutes a day.

Stay motivated.

To stay motivated visualize yourself thin. Many athletes use visualization techniques to improve their performances. All you need to do is take a few short minutes throughout the day and visualize yourself losing weight. Imagine that your stomach is flatter. Visualize yourself eating healthy foods and exercising.

Another way to stay motivated is to read several weight loss articles. There are plenty of weight loss and workout magazines. Book stores also have plenty of motivational books and informational books about getting into shape.
