Researchers put two groups of mice on two different diets for 100 days. One group was able to feast on high-calorie, high-fat food. The other group ate healthy food. One half of the group that ate the high-calorie, high-fat food fasted for 16 hours each day, and the other half did not fast. At the end of the study, the fasting group was almost as lean as the group that stuck to a healthy diet. The mice who ate basically junk food whenever they wanted became obese.
