Try the South Beach Diet

The South Beach diet is set up so dieters can lose up to 13 pounds or more during the first two weeks. This means a loss of about seven pounds per week. During the first 14 days of the diet, all bad carbohydrates like bread, pasta, fruit, potatoes and milk are eliminated. Dieters are restricted to eating foods like lean meat, skinless chicken, turkey, cheese, eggs, seafood, non-starchy vegetables and tofu along with olive oil and canola oil. The diet suggests 1,200 to 1,400 calories every day spread out among three meals and two to three snacks.

Eat More Fiber to Lose Weight Quickly

There’s probably a lot of extra pounds sitting in your intestines right now. According to Brandon Cuarneri in the Men’s Fitness article “3 Ways to Drop Weight Like a Champ,” people who want to lose weight fast should eat more fiber to clean out the “five to seven pounds “of “garbage” they usually have circulating around their intestines. Cuarneri suggests slowly working up fiber intake until you’re eating about 30 to 35 grams each day. It’s important to increase fiber intake slowly, especially if there hasn’t been a lot of fiber in your diet recently. Otherwise you may feel very uncomfortable.

Replace Drinks Like Soda and Alcohol with Water

Drinking a lot of water actually helps your body excrete more water weight, which will help you lose pounds. Replacing other drinks like soda, sports drinks and alcohol with water will also help you cut back on calories. To spice up plain water, squeeze some lemon juice into your glasses of water.

Increase Protein and Decrease “Bad” Carbs

Research shows that people who eat a higher percentage of protein lose more weight, more fat and less muscle, says Vera Tweed in the Better Nutrition article “Protein Pros.” For example, studies done at the University of Florida published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reveal that people who ate high-protein low-carbohydrate diets lost over 14 pounds more than those in a control group who ate a similar number of calories on a high-carb diet.Lose Weight in a Week

Be aware, however, that other studies show high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets may not work for the long term mostly because they’re difficult to stick to permanently, but many people go on a low-carb diet to lose a few pounds fast.

Make sure to add a few complex carbohydrates from whole grains, vegetables, fruits and beans into your low-carb diet. These “good” carbohydrates get absorbed slowly into the body’s system, which helps avoid spikes in blood sugar levels. Good carbohydrates are full of fiber.”Bad” carbohydrates like white bread, white rice and sugar cause spikes in blood sugar levels and weight gain (Magee).

It is possible to lose a few extra pounds in a week, but the best way to lose weight consists of making permanent, healthy lifestyle changes that will help you lose weight and keep it off forever.
