The Tapas Acupressure Technique for natural weight loss also known as TAT was developed by Tapas Fleming, a
licensed acupuncturist, who began her practice in 1987. Fleming developed TAT in 1993 to help relieve the allergic reactions of her patients, but she soon realized that the easy-to-do acupressure technique also helped her patients recover from stressful and traumatic experiences from the past. The simplicity of TAT pose makes it easy to do and perform almost anywhere you can find a few moments of privacy. Simply place the finger tips of the thumb and fourth finger of the left or right hand 1/8 inch above the inner corner of each eye. At the same time, place the middle finger from the same hand on the forehead directly above the nose about 1/2 inch above the eyebrows. Cradle the occiput area behind the head with the other hand. The occiput is the back lower section of the head right above the hairline. The thumb should be placed right above the hairline.

There are nine steps to go through while holding the TAT pose:
- While holding the TAT pose concentrate on healing.
- Think about what happened in your past that affected you.
- Say to yourself that this past situation is over and now you’re okay.
- Concentrate on healing from the negative situation.
- Tell yourself that you forgive everyone involved including yourself.
- Say to yourself that all parts of your mind, body and soul are now healing.
- Say to yourself that any residual effects are healing now.
- Envision a positive outcome.
- Tell yourself that the healing is fully integrated now and express thankfulness.
