licensed acupuncturist, who began her practice in 1987. Fleming developed TAT in 1993 to help relieve the allergic reactions of her patients, but she soon realized that the easy-to-do acupressure technique also helped her patients recover from stressful and traumatic experiences from the past. Tapas made the connection between overeating and stress and believes that TAT can help people lose those extra pounds and keep them off.

Acupressure for Natural Weight Loss

Many people tend to overeat to numb feelings of stress, and the TAT acupressure position reportedly helps reduce and even eliminate these feelings of anxiety.  People who suffer from a negative belief or feeling that triggers overeating, and people who suffer from a past experience related to food or other issues with being overweight may find weight loss relief by trying TAT. It’s also possible for people to use TAT to visualize themselves thin.

Some evidence exists that supports Tapas Acupressure Technique for weight loss. According to Charles Elder, M.D., M.P.H., Cherri Gallison, L.Ac., et al., in the article “Randomized Trial of Tapas Acupressure Technique for Weight Loss Maintenance: Rationale and Study Design” published in the  Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine, although the evidence base supporting the efficacy of TAT is mostly anecdotal, a recently published study warrants further investigation. What this means for the many people who overeat because of stress is evidence exists that TAT may possible help them lose weight and maintain that loss.

The simplicity of TAT pose makes it easy to do and perform almost anywhere you can find a few moments of privacy. Simply place the finger tips of the thumb and fourth finger of the left or right hand 1/8 inch above the inner corner of each eye. At the same time, place the middle finger from the same hand on the forehead directly above the nose about 1/2 inch above the eyebrows. Cradle the occiput area behind the head with the other hand. The occiput is the back lower section of the head right above the hairline. The thumb should be placed right above the hairline.

thousand years to help in the treatment and struggle against diseases. The philosophy of acupressure is based on the same principles as acupuncture. Using pressure instead of needles, acupressure stimulates specific points along the lines of energy that run through the body called meridians.

Besides using acupressure and acupuncture for natural weight loss, many people choose to use forms of ancient Chinese medicine as an alternative method for traditional medicine for other ailments related to health. Some also use acupressure or acupuncture to compliment traditional medicine.

The Tapas Acupressure Technique is an excellent weight loss tip that can help you lose weight consistently and keep it off.
